Solution 10301: Trouble Adding Access Points Using TI-Navigator™ When Anti-Virus Software is Installed on the Computer System.

Can my anti-virus software prevent the Access Point from being recognized by the TI-Navigator system?

Norton AntiVirus™ version 2005 software will prevent the TI-Navigator Network Manager from finding and configuring Access Points and Hubs. If Norton AntiVirus™ 2005 is being used on the same computer as the TI-Navigator software, Internet Worm Protection will need to be temporarily disabled each time Network Manager is used to configure the network.

Follow the steps provided below to successfully disable the Internet Worm Protection:

• Click Options.
• Go to Internet Worm Protection and de-select the Enable option.

Norton Internet Security™ 2005 will also prevent Network Manager from finding and configuring Access Points and Hubs. If Norton Internet Security™ 2005 is being used; Internet Worm Protection will need to be temporarily disabled each time Network Manager is used to configure the network.

Follow the steps provided below to successfully disable the Internet Worm Protection:

• Click Options.
• Go to Internet Worm Protection and de-select the Enable option.

It is important that only the Access Points that need to be configured are powered-on. Any other TI-Navigator Access Points in the area may cause conflict when attempting to add the hubs.

If encountering difficulty while adding an Access Point, it may be related to the network adapter. Choose the Configure Network Adapter option and verify that the network adapter's IP Address is 192.168.101.50. If it is not:

• Select the Modify settings for this adapter option and click Next.
• Use the Choose a subnet for this adapter option to reset the network adapter's IP address to 192.168.101.50.
• Turn the Access Point's power off for 30 seconds and then turn it back on.
