## Testing the Vitruvian Man

#### Activity Overview

Students collect height and wingspan measurements and plot the data. They will then determine a line of best fit using a movable line.

#### Key Steps

• Students will collect data on height and wingspan. Each student can measure his/her height and wingspan, using centimeters or inches.

• Students will create a scatter plot of the data on a Data & Statistics page. They are to then describe the scatter plot using terms such as positive or negative association and linear or non-linear.

• Students will add a movable line to the scatter plot and then adjust it to create a line of best fit. They will identify properties a best fit line should have and then justify why they think their line best fits the data.
