Students' learn about adding and subtracting decimals.
Before the Activity
Review place value for ones, tenths, and hundredths. Ask: Can you write 8.4 as a decimal in the hundredths? (8.40)
During the Activity
On board put 10 examples of adding and subtracting decimals.
Students work in pairs to add or subtract. One student works with pencil and paper the other calculator.
Check answers.
Then trade places with 10 new examples.
Students reply in writing.
