Distance vs. Time to School

Activity Overview

This is a linear activity where the teacher and/or students collect data about the distance they live from school and how long it takes to get to school. This is a modeling activity where time is the dependent variable.

Before the Activity

If you are using the TI-Navigator System with the TI-73 you will need the attached .pdf file.
The attached word document is provided so the teacher has an outline of how to conduct this activity with and without TI-Navigator. The students and teacher provide the data necessary for the activity. If you are using TI-Navigator, pre-load the activity center settings then begin the activity.

During the Activity

  • As a class, discuss questions that appeared to be more challenging
  • Re-teach concepts as necessary
