Introduction to Slope and Intercepts - Partner Activity

Activity Overview

This partner activity is designed to have pre-Algebra students or Algebra 1 students compare and contrast different screen shots and begin to develop concepts needed to describe slope and intercepts.

Before the Activity

If you are using the TI-Navigator System with the TI-73 you will need the attached .pdf file.

Students work in pairs and will be asked to open 5 pairs of screen shots. Student A opens shots A while Student B opens shots B. They will view both screens side by side and record at least one similarity and one difference for each pair of screen shoots in the learn check. The response is written in screen A by student A and in screen B by student B.

During the Activity

This partner activity is designed to have pre-Algebra students or Algebra 1 students compare and contrast different screen shots and begin to develop concepts needed to describe slope and intercepts.

After the Activity

Review student results:

  • As a class, discuss questions that appeared to be more challenging
  • Re-teach concepts as necessary
