Activity Overview
The students will determine the correct number of significant figures and apply rules for significant figures in calculations.
Before the Activity
First, review the Study Card file prior to class and check to make sure that the cards are loaded to the calculators. Second, review the rules for determining significant figures with your students.
During the Activity
This activity can be used as a Bell Ringer or a follow-up to a lesson on determining significant figures. Also, have the students to copy the problems and answer them on their own paper. This will give the students extra problems to review.
After the Activity
Discuss the answers to the problems as a class and then give the students a mini assessment on determining significant figures.
