Students participate in a class discussion that allows them to come to an understanding of the role of present day entrepreneurs in the American free-market economy.

Print the appropriate pages from the Activity for your class.
Install the LearningCheck(tm) App on the students' graphing calculators following the attached instructions.
Prior to starting this activity, it is important that students understand the definition of an entrepreneur as someone who starts their own business. After the class discussion, students will work in small groups (3-4) to discuss their opinions. Decide prior to class whether you will assign students to groups or allow them to create their own groups.
During the Activity
Distribute the appropriate pages from the Activity to your class
Distribute the LearningCheck(tm) file(s) to your class using TI Connect(tm) and the appropriate TI Connectivity cable
Follow the procedures outlined in the Activity
Students will:
Understand entrepreneurs in an economic sense.
Understand the role of entrepreneurs in a free market system.
Be able to identify the process an entrepreneur goes through to enter a product market.
Consider the decision an entrepreneur makes to enter the product market rather than work for an established business.
After the Activity
Teacher should assess whether students understand what an entrepreneur is and his/her role in a free market economy before moving on.
