Examining Capabilities of the TI-InterActive! and the TI-92 to teach Programming Concepts: A Mathemat

Activity Overview

Students build TI InterActive!™ pages that mimic the main capabilities and learning opportunities of programming on the TI-92.

Before the Activity

  • Install the TI InterActive! on the computer
  • See the attached PDF file for detailed instructions for this activity
  • Print pages 1 - 19 from the attached PDF file for the class
  • During the Activity

Distribute the pages to the class.

    Follow the Activity procedures:
    Building a simple transformation page:

  • Use the Word processor to type text wherever needed
  • Use the Math Box to store the variables and enter the transformation equation
  • Create a XY line plot

  • Building the complete Transformation page:
  • Store appropriate variables and use transformation equations for Affine and Euclidean Standard transformations
  • Examine various transformations
  • After the Activity

    Review student results:

  • As a class, discuss questions that appeared to be more challenging
  • Re-teach concepts as necessary
