Students conduct an experiment that will determine how many gallons of water leaked from a pipe.
In this activity, students investigate a water leak by pouring water into a cup with a hole in the bottom. They record the level of the water in the cylinder, which catches the water passing through the cup, every ten seconds.
Students will enter their data into two lists and create a scatter plot. Using the LinReg command, students will add a linear regression line to their plots.
On the worksheet, students will describe the shape of the graph and use the regression equation to determine how much water leaked over several days.
