Activity Overview
Students will work together in small groups to generate a list of questions to ask professionals about their careers. Once the interviews are completed, the class will meet in the computer lab to create Microsoft® PowerPoint presentations.
Before the Activity
See the attached Activity PDF file for detailed instructions for this activity.
Print the appropriate pages from the Activity for your class.
Install the NoteFolio™ App on the students' graphing calculators following the attached instructions.
Review the questions already provided in the INTERVQ.8xv file. (You will need to have the NoteFolio Creator installed on your computer.) Add or update these as you desire.
During the Activity
Distribute the appropriate pages from the Activity to your class
Distribute the NoteFolio™ file(s) to your class using TI Connect™ and the appropriate TI Connectivity cable
Follow the procedures outlined in the Activity
Students will:
Investigate options for their future jobs or careers.
Complete a career interest inventory to help understand their own interests when it comes to jobs.
Understand the relevance of schoolwork to their future outside of school.
Research using the Internet.
Collaborate with peers.
Conduct an interview with a member of their community.
Gain good interviewing and note taking skills.
Create a Microsoft® PowerPoint presentation that summarizes the work that they have done.
Develop awareness of careers, life choices, and accomplishing life goals.
After the Activity
Verify the computer lab reservation. Clarify any remaining questions the students have about the assignment. If necessary, aid the students in locating a suitable professional to interview.
