Activity Overview
Students will know how to determine the vertex and parabola of the arch of a bridge.
Before the Activity
You need to set up Activity Center background in TI-Navigator™ with the image of the bridge.
Also, download the EDC file and have it ready to send to students.
During the Activity
Have the students plot points in Activity Center of TI-Navigator™ on the bars of the bridge. Remove the picture from the background ask the student what the points look like.
Have the students determine what kind of graph it is, linear, parabola, etc.,
Then have the student determine the equation of the parabola.
After the Activity
Have the students complete the LearningCheck quiz (EDC file) to check for understanding.
