Activity Overview
The definite integral is used to find the average value of a function. It will show the steps of the 2nd Fundamental Theorem and also the alternate approach of having the capabilities of the graphing calculator work the entire problem at once.
Before the Activity
See the attached Activity PDF file(s) for detailed instructions for this activity.
During the Activity
Follow the procedures outlined in the activity.
Students will:
Be able to determine the average value of a function using definite integrals and the 2nd Fundamental Theorem.
After the Activity
Review student results
As a class, discuss questions that appeared to be more challenging
Re-teach concepts as necessary
