Activity Overview
Students will use a graphing calculator to find a limit by graphing, investigating a table, and by using the calc menu. (See "Before the Activity")
Before the Activity
After investigating the limits of some continuous and non-continuous functions, students will be given an example for which these three methods don't, at first, appear to give the same results. Their assignment is to figure out why.
See the attached Activity PDF file(s) for detailed instructions for this activity.
During the Activity
Follow the procedures outlined in the activity.
Students will:
Be able to graph functions and find limits of these functions through graphing and investigating a table.
After the Activity
Review student results
As a class, discuss questions that appeared to be more challenging
Re-teach concepts as necessary
