What's in a Name? Explorations in the Coordinate Plane from Manipulative to Graphing Calculator

Activity Overview

Students will plot points in a coordinate plane and reflect those points across the axes using a MIRA and then using the graphing calculator STAT, STAT PLOT, and GRAPH menus graph the image on the graphing calculator screen.

Before the Activity

Students should have some prior knowledge of plotting points in a coordinate plane. Students should log into NavNet.

During the Activity

With overhead calculator or Smartview, model graphing teacher's name in Quadrant I. Monitor students with Navigator Screen Capture.

After the Activity

Do Screen Capture on the Navigator to see reflected images on calculator screen.
