Binomial Distribution and Gender Biased Jury Selection

Activity Overview

A high profile criminal case in our area gave me the idea of creating a binomial distribution using jury selection based on a selection by gender. Many cases could possibly be determined by the selection of men or women.

Before the Activity

Students should have a previous knowledge of binomial distributions, calulating probability, combinations, and permutations.

After the Activity

After the activity, discuss the results of each students' generated entries. You might have an extension by looking at the results of the entire class.
