Snowboarding Activity TI-Navigator and Sinusoidal Regression
Snowboarding Activity TI-Navigator and Sinusoidal Regression
In this activity students will collect data points and perform a sinusoidal regression to represent the trail formed by a snowboarder going down a mountain slope. Students will also describe the sinusoidal equation in the form y=asin(b(x-c))+ d in terms of amplitude, period, phase shift and displacement.
Download the attached document Snowboarding Activity and follow the instructions given. Students should be familiar with finding a regression equation on the calculator and should have some background knowledge of sine functions in terms of amplitude, period, phase shift and vertical displacement.
TI Navigator will be used to send and collect data from students as you progress through the activity.
Have students complete part 8 of the activity individually and discuss answers as a class.
