Activity Overview
We express most graphs as a single equation which involves two variables, x and y. By using parametric mode on the calculator you may use three variables to represent a curve. The third variable is t, time. (Topics - parametric functions)
Before the Activity
Students should have access to TI-83 Plus or TI-84 Plus.
During the Activity
Provide each student with a printed copy of the attached document. Students will use the graphing calculator to solve aprametric functions.
After the Activity
Review student results and, as a class, discuss questions that appeared to be more challenging. Re-teach concepts as necessary.
