Follow the procedures outlined in the Activity
Students will:
Identify the devices an author uses to influence readers and critique the effectiveness of their use.
Write for a variety of readers, including peers, teachers, and other adults, adapting content, style, and structure to audience and situation.
Write in a variety of situations (impromptu, over time, in collaboration or alone) and adapt strategies, such as revision, technology, and the use of reference materials, to the situation.
Recognize and exercise options in modes of expression and choice of words when speaking and writing, especially when revising written work.
After the Activity
Once the students have completed their final definition, the students share their definitions with the class. Some terms may be assigned to multiple students if the class has more than eleven students, and in this situation, a class definition should be derived from the individual definitions provided. Definitions should be obtained from all students in class.
Students are responsible for recording the class definitions on their handout sheet as the class polishes the definitions.
