Activity Overview

In this activity, students will understand the basic geometric concepts of parallelism and perpendicularity, and will also able to use rectangular coordinates to make congruent objects. They will display understanding of parts of two-dimensional figures, and of the relationship that exists between parts of the body and the whole of the organism.

Before the Activity

  • Install TI Connect™ or TI-GRAPH LINK™ using the TI Connectivity cable and the unit-to-unit link cable
  • Connect the TI-73 to the CBL 2 unit
  • See the attached PDF file for detailed instructions for this activity
  • Print pages 41 - 46 from the attached PDF file for your class
  • During the Activity

    Distribute the pages to your class.

    Follow the Activity procedures:

  • Start drawing in the interactive mode
  • Make the sketch of the assigned object in the interactive mode of the calculator
  • Include the name of the object as text
  • Save the image as a Pic on the calculator
  • Transfer the image to the computer using the Graph Link
  • Save it as a TIFF file and print it
  • After the Activity

    Students will fill in the Student Data Collection and Analysis Sheet.

    Review student results:

  • As a class, discuss questions that appeared to be more challenging
  • Re-teach concepts as necessary
