Maryland Algebra H.S.A. Activity

Activity Overview

In this activity, students work to solve various problems from the Maryland Algebra/Data Analysis High School Assessment (H.S.A.). These problems all are from the algebra strand. Students examine different ways to represent and solve nine different problems, some multiple choice, some constructed response.

Before the Activity

Students will need some background in solving real world problems involving algebra.

During the Activity

Students work independently, in small groups, and/or as a whole class to complete sample activities from the Maryland High School Assessment. Students can be guided by the teacher or work indepdently, depending on whether this is an instructional activity or review.
