About the Lesson

To introduce the activity,  read Ten Black Dots, One Hungry Monster, or Anno’s Counting House with students to help spark some creative ideas for the stories they will be writing.

Distribute the student activity and have students work in pairs to write four stories about any number they choose. Then have them draw illustrations and use their calculators to represent the numbers in the new stories.
