Area of Triangle

Activity Overview

This Cabri Geometry activity enables students to review the relationship between the height of a triangle and its perimeter and area.

Before the Activity

Download the Cabri Geometry™ software on the computer

See the attached FIG file for details of this activity

During the Activity

Follow the Activity procedure:

Drag point B around the screen and examine the height, area, and perimeter of the triangle

Note that if the position of B is changed keeping the height constant, the perimeter changes, but the area remains same

Observe that if the height of the triangle is increased, the area and perimeter also increase

After the Activity

Review student results:

As a class, discuss questions that appeared to be more challenging
