Activity Overview
This activity works backwards by giving students the inverse functions and having them discover how they relate to the original functions. By tracing along the inverse function, data is collected and then plotted on a statplot. The variables are then switched on the statplot. The new plot and the original function are overlayed so that relationships between the functions can be made and details about the domain and range are found.
Before the Activity
Students should be familiar with the graphs of sine, cosine, and tangent and their domains and ranges. They should also be familiar with inverse functions.
During the Activity
Have students open the file and follow the directions.
