Activity Overview
This activity provides students the opportunity to gain experience in creating circle graphs on the calculator and provides an excellent real-world review of computation with percents.
Before the Activity
If you are using the TI-Navigator System with the TI-73 you will need the attached .pdf file.

TI-83 Plus/TI-84 Plus users: Students may use the TI CellSheet APP to create a circle graph. Therefore, download the APP to the student calculators using TI Connect and the unit-to-unit link cable to transfer the APP from one calculator to another.

During the Activity
Students will:
Find the percent of a number.
Convert percents to fractions in lowest terms.
Evaluate, synthesize and analyze real-world data.
Directions
Distribute the Student Edition PDF file to your class.
Follow the activity procedures outlined in the student document.
You may use the Transparency PDF file to display a large image of the USA TODAY graphic during the activity.
After the Activity
Distribute the assessment questions or send the attached LearningCheck™ assessment to your class to gauge student understanding of the concepts presented in the activity.
