Activity Overview
Students will find the perimeter and area of a composite rectangular figure. They will explain how to find the measures (lengths) of unknown sides as well as the area of the entire polygon by dividing the figure into smaller rectangular figures.
Before the Activity
Directions provided for each slide that is presented to the students handheld. Along with answers to measurements that students should be finding when the investigation is done correctly.
During the Activity
The students can sit in pairs or groups of four so that they can ask questions easily while completing the investigation; however each student can use their own handheld in order to complete the task.
After the Activity
Summary and Extension packet that students can complete at home. The students does not need the TI-Nspire handheld in order to complete this packet.
