Cabri Geometry Tour

Activity Overview

In this activity, students use the Cabri™ software to mark points, draw lines, construct parallel and perpendicular lines, angles, bisectors, and triangles. They learn how to use the tool to measure angles.

Before the Activity

Install the Cabri™: Jr. App on the students' graphing calculators using one of these two methods:

  • TI-Connect™,  a TI Connectivity Cable, and the Unit-to-Unit Link Cable
  • TI-Navigator™  "send to class" feature
  • See the attached PDF file for detailed instructions for this activity
  • Print pages 1 - 5 from the attached PDF file for your class
  • During the Activity

Distribute the pages to the class.

    Follow the Activity procedures:

  • Mark points and label them
  • Draw two intersecting lines and label the point of intersection
  • Construct an angle by drawing two rays sharing a common vertex
  • Measure the angle and then drag to change its measure
  • Bisect the angle, and measure an angle created by the bisector
  • Observe that the measure of this angle is half of the original
  • Draw a line and construct a line parallel to that line
  • Draw a line and construct a perpendicular line
  • Construct and label a triangle
  • After the Activity

    Review student results:

  • As a class, discuss questions that appeared to be more challenging
  • Re-teach concepts as necessary
