Slippery Slope Activity - Math & Science in Motion

Published on 06/09/2008

Activity Overview

This activity serves as a follow-up to Activity 6 in the Explorations book, Math and Science in Motion: Activities for Middle School by Chris Brueningsen, Elisa Brueningsen, and Bill Bower (Texas Instruments Incorporated, 1997).

Before the Activity

If you are using the TI-Navigator System with the TI-73 you will need the attached .pdf file.
In this activity, students demonstrate their understanding of slope and the slope formula as it is related to lines created with the CBR™. Have students complete Activity 6 from the EXPLORATIONS book first.

During the Activity

The attached LearningCheck™ appvar and resource files extend concepts from the activity above. These files can be sent to your class using TI-Navigator.

After the Activity

Review student results:

  • As a class, discuss questions that appeared to be more challenging
  • Re-teach concepts as necessary
