Activity Overview
Students will evaluate expressions using pencil and paper and then use the editing features of the home screen and/or the table feature of the TI-83 Plus to provide immediate positive reinforcement.
Before the Activity
Students should have access to either the TI-83 Plus or TI-84 Plus family of calculators.
During the Activity
Ask students to write out the expanded form of expressions. Have students support their answers by evaluating the original form and the expanded form on the TI-83 Plus.
After the Activity
Review student answers:
As a class, discuss questions that appeared to be more challenging
Re-teach concepts as necessary
