Students will algebraically determine what type of quadrilateral that is pictured in the activity center.
Before the Activity
This activity follows any standard curriculum covering quadrilaterals in the coordinate plane. Students should be able to find distance, slope, and equations of lines.
During the Activity
Using TI-Navigator™, students' submit the equations of the lines for each side of the quadrilateral.
Teacher uses Quick Polls to discuss the slopes of the lines and to have students submit their values for the lengths of the sides. These criteria are then used to state what type of quadrilateral it is.
After the Activity
Students can then write a paragraph discussing what the quadrilateral is and why.
