Activity Overview
Students will connect the centers of snowflakes with a line preferably by applying the point-slope formula.
Before the Activity
Students should be familiar with graphing lines. The intent of this activity is to reinforce applying the point slope formula, but other strategies can be used to find the line equations.
During the Activity
First, configure the activity for students to contribute points. This way the students will all know the interger points at the center of each snowflake.
Then configure the activity for students to contribute equations. The goal is to connect a pair of "like" snowflakes with a line. There are six pairs of snowflakes. It is usally easier to put students in small groups and assign a snowflake pair to each group and after a set amount of time, switch the pairs of snowflakes.
