Activity Overview
Students create a geometric dartboard where they will explore finding the theoretical and experimental probability of a dart hitting one of their shapes within the dartboard. Once they have explored the theoretical and experimental probability, they will then assign point values for their dartboards for hitting each shape. Students will use multiple representations to explore properties of area, ratios, and percents.
Before the Activity
Download the attached PDF and look over the information on the first page. Download and distribute the attached .tns file and Student Worksheet for use during the activity.
During the Activity
Discuss the material from the activity pages and worksheet with students as needed.
After the Activity
Encourage students to summarize what they have learned from completing the activity. If desired, discuss the extensions with students.
