Introduction to Electric Circuits

Activity Overview

This activity will show how to properly connect wires to make a closed electric circuit.

Included in this will be how to connect batteries in series and/or in parallel, and how to properly measure potential drops across a resistor and current for electron current and conventional current circuit(s).

Before the Activity

Course material must be taught on electron current and conventional current direction in circuits along with open vs. closed circuits.

Basic knowledge of ammeters and voltmeters and how they are connected in circuits should also be covered.

During the Activity

See activity in attachment for Lab on Intro to Circuits '05

After the Activity

Review student results:

  • As a class, discuss questions that appeared to be more challenging
  • Re-teach concepts as necessary
