Use TI-Navigator™ to guess the equation of a famous or interesting shape.
Before the Activity
If you are using the TI-Navigator System with the TI-73 you will need the attached .pdf file.
Make sure students are connected to TI-Navigator and class has begun.
During the Activity
Find an interesting mathematical picture on the internet or have students take digital pictures of their school. Use these pictures as your background in the activity center on the big screen.Next configure the activity to have students send points 2 or 3 should do to the screen.The students place and mark their points on the interesting shape in the background. Once a sufficient amount of points have been marked stop the activity. Reconfigure to submit one equation and allow the student to resubmit and send the current points as the background.Now start the activity and have the students submit equations until they get onr that includes as many points of the curve as possible. Stop or pause the activity when you are satisfied with their progress. I have attatched a picture to get you started.
