Students will use lists of data and the correlation factor of various regressions to determine the best regression line.
Before the Activity
If you are using the TI-Navigator System with the TI-73 you will need the attached .pdf file.
Read Number of Hours vs. Leisure.doc for teacher directions. Send students lists years.8xl, leisure.8xl, and work.8xl. They will use these lists to create a scatterplot.
During the Activity
Hand students a copy of Linear Equation for Work Data.doc - and have them complete the learn check worleisure.edc. This will help the students work through the regression equations and determine the correct one.
After the Activity
Review student results:
As a class, discuss questions that appeared to be more challenging
Re-teach concepts as necessary
