Activity Overview
Students pick a stock that they would like to follow for a period of 2 weeks. Each day they look up the stock and chart its price. At the end of the two week period they graph their data using the graphing calculator. They compare their graphs to other students in the class.
Before the Activity
Be sure to have a daily newspaper that gives a comprehensive listing of the daily stocks.
During the Activity
Each day after students have recorded the change in stock price. Discuss with students why the stock market performed the way it did each day. Discuss how certain political situations affect the stock market.
After the Activity
Discuss careers that focus on the stock market such as a financial planner or a stock broker.
