Activity Overview
This activity is intended to be a discovery activity for students to determine the effect that changing m and b have on the equation y=mx+b. There is a teacher guide and an activity to determine the student's level of understanding.
Before the Activity
Before beginning the activity the teacher does not need to define slope or y-intercept. The activity is designed as an introduction to these concepts and when completed will help students to have the big picture of slope and y-intercept and how changing the variables in the slope intercept equation will affect the graph.
During the Activity
All directions are included in the above attachment.
After the Activity
The final page of the activity provides a worksheet for students. This page will allow the teacher to determine the students' understanding of the concepts.
