Activity Overview
Students use the Explorer Draw application™ to draw two-dimensional figures. They understand how to write commands to draw squares and hexagons. They also calculate the perimeter of the figures drawn.
Before the Activity
Install the Explorer Draw App application on the calculator using the
TI Connect™
, TI Connectivity Cable, and Unit-to-Unit Link Cable
Set up the calculator as explained in the appendix
See the attached PDF file for detailed instructions for this activity
Print the pages from the attached PDF file for the class
During the Activity
Distribute the pages to the class.
Follow the Activity procedures:
Select the Logo Light feature
Use commands to draw a line segment, turn by 90 degrees, draw the next line segment and finally complete a square
Store the image of the square and calculate the perimeter
Repeat the activity and draw a hexagon
After the Activity
Review student results:
As a class, discuss questions that appeared to be more challenging
Re-teach concepts as necessary
