Activity Overview
In this activity, students explore basic Algebra concepts and Number sense. They learn the definition of sign numbers, absolute value, and numbers of opposite sign.

Install the Topics in Algebra 1 App application on the calculator using the

Set up the calculator as explained in the activity

Print the pages from the attached PDF file for the class
During the Activity
Distribute the pages to the class.
Follow the Activity procedures:
Select the chapter on Number Sense, topic covering Integers, read through the overview section, and answer questions
Identify difference between a set of natural numbers, a set of integers, and whole numbers
Understand the definition of absolute values
Explore an exercise of addition of integers
Play the Number Smash game
Select addition and find answers to addition problems
Record score after finishing the game
After the Activity
Review student results:
As a class, discuss questions that appeared to be more challenging
Re-teach concepts as necessary
