Constructing and Investigating Properties of a Rhombus

Activity Overview

Students will:

Construct a rhombus using the compass tool and parallel lines.

Measure sides and angles to visualize equilateral side and properties of diagonals.

Try to alter the properties of their construction by moving the vertices.

Before the Activity

Provide each student with a copy of the attached .pdf document.

During the Activity

This activity will help students visualize the construction of a rhombus and test the properties that arise from the construction of its diagonals.

After the Activity

Review student answers

As a class, discuss questions that appeared to be more challenging
