# Mathematical Methods Yr 11

**Unit 1** reviews basic algebraic concepts required for the introduction of functions and calculus, including key concepts of a function and its graph. Statistics and probability include conditional probability and independence. Trigonometry studies include the unit circle, radian measures and graphs of trigonometric functions and their applications.

**Unit 2** includes exponential functions, their properties and graphs, arithmetic and geometric sequences including recursive definitions and applications. Rates and average rates of change are introduced followed by instantaneous rates of change (calculus) applicable to polynomial functions. Calculus is used to determine the gradient of a polynomial function, equations to tangents and solve optimisation problems.
