Students represent natural numbers in expanded form and as products of prime factors, using exponent notation. They solve problems involving squares of numbers and square roots of perfect square numbers. Students solve problems involving addition and subtraction of integers. They use all 4 operations in calculations involving positive fractions and decimals, choosing efficient calculation strategies. Students choose between equivalent representations of rational numbers and percentages to assist in calculations. They use mathematical modelling to solve practical problems involving rational numbers, percentages and ratios, in financial and other applied contexts.

Based on a similar game using 3's, the game soon became popular in the Google Play Store and was soon adapted to play in a web-browser. Mental Arithmetic The popular TV show "Letters and Numbers" screened on SBS between 2010 and 2012. The Numbers aspect of the show required contestants to use mental arithmetic to generate an equation equal a target number given 6 random numbers consisting of a mix of small and large numbers. Since the show aired, many teachers and their students have played this or similar games. This activity takes the basic game and extends it into a calculator program and an entire investigation sure to build students' arithmetic skills, estimation, problem solving and much more.
