Module 25 - Polar Functions
  Introduction | Lesson 1 | Lesson 2 | Lesson 3 | Self-Test

In this module you will learn how to use the TI-89 to define and graph polar functions, which are often used in multi-variable calculus. The graphs can illustrate polar functions and help you discover many patterns and conjectures. In this module you will also use the TI-89 to perform calculus operations on polar functions to find values such as slope, arc length and area.

Lesson Index:

    25.1 - Polar Coordinates

    25.2 - Polar Graphs

25.3 - Area Bounded by Polar Graphs

After completing this module, you should be able to do the following:

  • Use the TI-89 to convert coordinates from rectangular to polar and from polar to rectangular
  • Graph polar functions and find their intersections
  • Use the TI-89 Tangent and Arc features for polar graphs
  • Find areas bounded by polar functions
