 Self Test

  1. Use the formal definition of the derivative and your TI-89 to find the derivative of f(x) = 2x3 at x = 1.
  2. Use the TI-89 derivative key to find the derivative of f(x) = 2x3 at x = 1.
  3. Use the TI-89 derivative key to find the derivative of f(x) = 2x3.
  4. Graph f(x) = 2x3 in a [-3, 3] x [-10, 10] window then use the tanimate program with a HIGH sampling rate to illustrate the derivative of f(x) = 2x3. Use the program to illustrate the value of the derivative at x = 1.
  5. Find the equation of the line tangent to f(x) = 2x3 at x = 1. Graph f(x) = 2x3 together with the tangent line and then zoom in to show local linearity.
