Use the values of a and b below for Questions 1 and 2.

a = -2i + 4j

b = 3ij

  1. Find a unit vector with the same direction as a.
  2. Find the dot product of a and b.

Set your TI-83 to Radian mode.

  1. On the t-interval [0, 4 ], graph the vector-valued function

    r(t) = (tcost) i + (t sint) j.

Use the following instructions and information for Questions 4-7.

Switch your TI-83 to Degree mode.

A projectile is launched from the ground with an initial velocity of 210 ft/sec at an angle of 35° from the horizontal. Use a Tstep of 0.1 and let g = 32.

  1. Graph the path of the projectile using parametric equations and use the Trace feature to estimate the time when the projectile reaches its highest point.
  2. Estimate the position vector when the projectile is at its highest point. Interpret the result.
  3. Estimate the velocity vector when the projectile is at its highest point. Interpret the result.
  4. What is the acceleration vector when the projectile is at its highest point? Interpret the result.
