How do I make a scatter plot?
The following example will demonstrate how to enter statistical data and graph a scatter plot.
Input this data example for L1 and L2 into the Stat List Editor.
L1: 7, 2, 4, 2, 5
L2: 8, 4, 6, 2, 7
Graph the scatter plot:
- Press a then c to access the STAT PLOT editor.
- Press 1 to edit Plot1.
- Press = to turn on Plot1.
- Press the down arrow key ≥, then press = to select the scatter plot graph type.
- Press the down arrow key ≥, then press a, and then press Õ to set XLIST.
- Press the down arrow key ≥, then press a, and then press Ö to set YLIST.
Note: On the Stat Plot screen, you also have the option to change the color of the plot by highlighting the color and pressing the right arrow key › or the left arrow key ‹ until the desired color appears on the screen. - Set the viewing window by pressing d and adjusting the values to display the scatterplot. Alternatively, press f 9 to select Zoom Stat to automatically scale the axes to display the scatter plot. If you do not see the plot in a reasonable window, press f and choose option 9: Zoom Stat to automatically change the window for optimal viewing of the stat plots.
