How do I calculate the mean absolute deviation of a list?

To calculate the mean absolute deviation for the following dataset L1, follow these steps:

L1: 8, 13, 14, 16, 19, 24

  1. Press m.
  2. Enter the values in column L1.

To calculate the mean absolute deviation, follow these steps.

  1. Press Æ to return to the calculator page.
  2. Press È, then press the right arrow key to MATH, and press the down arrow key to select 3: mean(.
  3. Press b Ÿ to insert the absolute value template to select abs(.
  4. Enter L1-mean(L1) into the absolute value template.
  5. Press the right arrow key to move out of the template and close the parentheses.
  6. Press = to evaluate and the mean absolute deviation of L1 will be displayed.
