Getting Started with TI-Nspire™ Technology in Middle Grades Mathematics

Designed for educators who are just beginning to use TI-Nspire™ technology, this workshop introduces the TI-Nspire™ handheld and TI-Nspire™ Teacher Software in the context of middle grades mathematics.

Learn a wide range of TI-Nspire™ technology skills, and explore how to effectively integrate Math Nspired activities into your middle grades mathematics classroom. By the end of the workshop, you’ll be comfortable using pre-made TI-Nspire™ documents and have basic skills in graphing, geometry and other applications of TI-Nspire™ technology.


This in-person workshop is available in one-, two- and three-day options to accommodate educator specific needs. A half-day workshop option is also available. A more extensive exploration of topics is gained with the 2-day and 3-day workshops. A virtual workshop is also available in multiple two- or three-hour sessions.

  • Exploration of dynamic, interactive lessons involving fractions, decimals and percents; categorical data; and points in the coordinate plane.
  • Overview of the TI-Nspire™ handheld, including general calculator, graphing, and statistical functionality.
  • Introduction to basic features of Teacher Software.
  • Coverage of patterns and functions, systems of linear equations and modeling with multiple representations.
  • Opportunities for differentiation based on educators’subject areas and needs.
  • Exploration of online resources and formative assessment documents with Teacher Software.
  • Wider curriculum coverage, with an additional focus on geometry.
  • Introduction to data collection and analysis with the Calculator-Based Ranger 2™ (CBR 2) motion sensor.
  • Additional opportunities for differentiation based on educators’ subject areas and needs.

Areas of Focus

This workshop focuses on appropriate usage of the TI-Nspire™ handheld and TI-Nspire™ Teacher Software, with an emphasis on numeric, algebraic, geometric, and statistical functionality through dynamic, interactive lessons across the middle grades mathematics curriculum.
