Camps supporting student success. Contact us to get started

This virtual camp is offered to assist students in preparing for their upcoming ACT® math test. The camp is offered in two options: A six-hour camp for up to 25 students or two three-hour camps for up to 50 students (25 students each). The breakdown of hours can be customized as needed.

Students will explore main topics of the ACT® math test, and learn strategies to better prepare for the test. By the end of the camp, participants should feel comfortable with:

  • Leveraging the TI-84 Plus CE graphing calculator for exam questions in key categories, such as number and quantity, algebra, functions, geometry, and statistics and probability
  • Implementing test preparation strategies, and using premade activities that reinforce technology skills and deepen understanding of key ACT® topics

Six-hour camp areas of focus

The six-hour camp covers the following Texas Instruments (TI) technology skills, exam strategies and activities:

TI-84 Plus CE technology skills

Substituting values, graphing equations, using the trace feature, solving systems graphically, graphing inequalities, solving equations numerically and graphically, finding mean and median, regression, matrices and determinants, complex numbers, least common multiple, logarithms, scientific notation, composition of functions

ACT® strategies

Eliminating incorrect answers, solving problems by working backward, avoiding distractors, substitution, thinking graphically, calculating percentages, using diagrams strategically, attention to units

Activities to deepen understanding
