Texas Algebra 1 EOC Exam Strategies With
TI-Nspire™ Technology

This workshop is designed for Algebra 1 educators in Texas who are either beginning to use the TI-Nspire™ technology or who want to learn more to drive student success on the Texas Algebra 1 EOC exam.

Educators will cover the key elements of teaching with the TI-Nspire™ CX handheld and TI-Nspire™ CX Teacher Software, and the workshop will focus on helping students use the TI-Nspire™ CX handheld to better understand key topics on the Texas Algebra 1 EOC exam.

By the end of the workshop, participants should feel comfortable with:

  • Leveraging the TI-Nspire™ CX handheld for exam questions in key reporting categories, such as Number and Algebraic Methods; Describing and Graphing Linear Functions; and Writing and Solving Linear Equations and Inequalities
  • Analyzing and solving a wide range of sample problems using graphs, tables and calculator tools
  • Exploring premade activities that reinforce technology skills and deepen student understanding of key EOC exam topics

Overview

This in-person workshop is available in one- and two-day options to accommodate educator-specific needs. The two-day workshop offers a more extensive exploration of topics and strategies. A virtual workshop is also available in multiple two- or three-hour sessions.

  • Overview of the TI-Nspire™ CX handheld, including the Press-to-Test feature
  • Exploration of key graphing features, such as graphing functions and relations, analyzing functions by finding points of interest, and using the trace feature
  • Coverage of key statistics features, such as entering, ordering and graphing, data and determining a least squares regression line
workshop-2-day
  • Introduction to the TI-Nspire™ CX Teacher Software, along with coverage of additional TI-Nspire™ CX handheld skills
  • Exposure to entering and evaluating numerical expressions, including strategies for saving time and avoiding mistakes
  • Exploration of expression and equation tools, including strategies for checking for equivalence, storing variables and using the numeric solver feature

This workshop focuses on using the TI-Nspire™ CX handheld to improve student learning and conceptual understanding of key content areas for the Texas Algebra 1 EOC exam.
