Getting Started with the TI-Nspire™ CAS Technology in High School Mathematics

Designed for educators who are just beginning to use TI-Nspire™ technology, this workshop introduces the TI-Nspire™ CAS handheld and TI-Nspire™ CAS Teacher Software in the context of a high school mathematics curriculum, including activities specific to computer algebra systems (CAS).

Learn a wide range of TI-Nspire™ CAS technology skills and explore how to effectively integrate Math Nspired activities and CAS functionality into your high school mathematics classroom. By the end of the workshop, you’ll be comfortable using pre-made TI-Nspire™ documents and have basic skills in CAS, graphing, geometry and other applications of TI-Nspire™ technology.


This workshop is available in one-, two- and three-day options to accommodate educator-specific needs. The two- and three-day workshops offer a more extensive exploration of topics.

  • Overview of the TI-Nspire™ handheld, including calculator, graphing, statistical and CAS functionality.
  • Exploration of dynamic, interactive lessons focused on families of functions and mathematical modeling with multiple representations.
  • Introduction to basic features of Teacher Software, including creating formative assessment documents.
  • Additional coverage of the TI-Nspire™ handheld, including CAS features for the algebra classroom and modeling with multiple representations.
  • Expanded coverage of Teacher Software and online resources.
  • Opportunities for differentiation based on educators’ subject areas and needs.
  • Deeper coverage of the TI-Nspire™ handheld and Teacher Software, emphasizing broad subject coverage and additional CAS features.
  • Introduction to data collection and analysis with the Calculator-Based Ranger 2™ (CBR 2) motion sensor.
  • Additional opportunities for differentiation based on educators’ subject areas and needs.
